Batch 10 turned out great! Very happy to have #53 going to CJ Lewandowski of the Po' Ramblin Boys! I was going to keep that one, but I'm very cool with him having it. I'm sure excited to crest 50! My brother Michael is getting that one. A few here have Noble fir bass bars, and that experiment is working out! If y'all know of a source for old Noble, please let me know!

Eight was a lot. My hands are panting. Great voices all around, here! Excited to deploy these bluegrass soldiers! I get to keep one, finally (#43, far right in both photos). One has an air dried Adi top that Bruce Harvie harvested in NY in 1990, and it doesn't suck. And, Bruce will be taking home #36 (far left), and I'm happy to have one in his hands! Thanks, Bruce! I'll be cooking through the ninth batch, and I'll try to keep things updated.
Cooking along with this run! All tone bars, fancier inlays, slight changes in the body shape. Just about finished with binding channel, and I'll get things glued up in the next week. Headed to Wintergrass next weekend! The list has filled out for most of the rest of this year. If you're interested in getting involved, now's a good time to jump!
Here we finally are. I wanted to dial in the F5's to a point before moving on to the A5's. From now on, I'll be alternating batches! This photo is after 2 padding sessions. We should be ready to string up the third weekend of October!!!
I finally got around to making these. Most folks I talked with about it weren't into them. A pal back in Memphis was roughing up his top, so I repaired the scratches & made this happen. I'll be mixing them into batches.
In other news, I'm cooking through a batch of A-5's! Tops are on & I'm working on necks, now! I'll post photos when I get a chance. The finish has cured! I'll be doing final touch-ups, and stringing tonight! Anyone in range interested in test driving should give me a shout! Folks will be rolling over Sunday 4/15 from 3:00 on. Anxious to hear what we have!
Getting there with this bunch! Probably two more French polishing sessions, and I'll set them up to cure! They should be ready for action around April 15th or so! Now, it's time to head back up to Orcas Island Tonewoods to restock, and then wet a line on the Deschutes!
Well, I'm missed the crap out of Wintergrass. We are moving along, though! Shooting to scrape binding, spray shellac sanding seal, brush varnish, and French polish this week. I'm ready to see them come to life! Finish should be cured by the end of March! I'll post more as the finishing progresses, and I'll put the word out when I string these kids up! I can't wait to hear what we get with the mix of bracing! All one-piece tops! 3 braced with tone bars, and two with different X patterns!
Finished carving out binding channel last night! Pretty excited about having 3 with tone bars & 2 different X-Braces (one way forward). All 1-Piece tops from the same piece of Alaskan Sitka! Maybe ready for Wintergrass! We'll see!
Finish is cured! Strung up and ready for action! I'll be at Stevenson (GorgeGrass) Friday-Sunday with a few! Strong bunch! Very pleased with tone, volume & playability!
